Whelp' I finished this one off as best I could. Near the point of forgetting about this piece believe it or not.
This was done In photoshop cs with a mirror and tablet. This is my first freehand portrait piece, hopefully I can take what I learned off this and move on to actually adding people into my works. Not counting the many times I started over on so many features, not opening this piece for months and the usual distractions of life, this took about a day. I hope you enjoy it for what it is, and if you have any suggestions on what technique to use to better some of these elements in this pic, I am all ears. The style is sort of a spin on the ship portrait I did some time ago, reflecting some of that era in this pic.
pretty nice job over all.. main thing that looks odd to me is his shoulders are really slanted down.. it makes him look like he has a long neck and is pushing his shoulders down..
This turned out pretty nice... I'm impressed overall. I would say that the style used for the face doesn't seem to quite match the style used for the shirt front, but then such mixes aren't unheard of in traditional media, so I really have no true gripe. Kudos!
